Assignment Task 1 Sociological Issue (Mental Health) Task Description: The task is divided into two sections: An oral report (3-5 minutes) and a written report (1000 words). How does (MENTAL HEALTH) affect primary education in Australia today. • give a brief description of the Mental Health and why you chose it. • information on how Mental Health has affected education in the past (i.e. prior to 2000) • information on how students are currently affected by this issue (this may be partly anecdotal but should also include factual information from your research) • suggestions for ways in which education in Australia could move forward to promote greater excellence and equity. Part A: Oral Report Your task is to utilise a 3-5 minute oral presentation with our Residential group to cover the information listed in the bullet points above by using explanation and questioning as the main teaching strategies (A PowerPoint presentation or simply reading from notes cannot be used). Engaging the class in a vigorous presentation of your topic using these two strategies is critical to the success of this task. Preparation, depth and relevance of information, sequencing, timing, questioning skills, types of questions and your responses to questions are critical to the quality of the presentation. Part B: Written Report From your research you are to write a 1000 word report covering the information listed in the bullet points above. Reference citations should be included in the text and a reference list should be included. Correct APA style of referencing should be used.
