Assignment title: Management

As a recently hired engineering consultant, you are asked to demonstrate your ability to configure a small LAN. Your tasks include setting up the physical topology, configuring the PC hosts and configuring the initial settings on a router and a switch using the Cisco IOS. A router, a switches and two PCs are to be used. Complete and configure the following topology in Packet Tracer using the correct cables and ports. Complete all listed requirements in Packet Tracer and answer all questions listed below.  Document and explain all Cisco IOS commands used to set up this network.  Discuss how you would view the running configuration. Discuss how you have verified that all passwords are encrypted. Use appropriate screenshots of your running configuration.  Describe how you have tested the connectivity between the PC-A to PC-B, between the router and switch and between PC-A to switch, PC-B to switch and from the router to PC-C. Summarise your findings in a table.  Ping and traceroute PC-B from PC-A. Use "Simulation Mode" to examine and analyse the traceroute ICMP traffic. Set the event list filters to capture only ICMP traffic. Your analysis of the ICMP traffic must contain screenshots and a discussion of the "Event List". Display and discuss the source and destination IP addresses contained in the relevant IP headers. Explain the meaning and significance of the Type field in the relevant ICMP headers.  Document how you have verified remote management of S1 via telnet.  Discuss the differences between your Packet Tracer ICMP packet capture and the Wireshark packet capture (as described in Pages 108 to 111 of the lab manual, "Capture and Analyse Remote ICMP Data in Wireshark").
