Assignment title: Management
Illustrate the importance of business processes in delivering outcomes based
upon business goals and objectives
You will need to:
1- evaluate the interrelationship between the different processes and
functions of an organisation
For this you need to focus on a particular organisation (ideally your own, or one
typical of your business sector – if this is not possible, please consult with your
Tutor) – and examine and evaluate the links, the relationships, the inter-
dependencies, between processes such as those applied in HR, Training, Quality,
Purchasing, Marketing, and so on.
2- justify the methodology to be used to map processes to the organisation's
goals and objectives
Here you need to select and justify a methodology to map, track, make visible, the
processes which are designed to help your selected organisation achieve its
objectives/targets – in essence, the operational, functional, and strategic processes
which the organisation uses to be successful.
3- evaluate the output of the process and the quality gateways
"Quality Gateways" – is not a frequently used term in many organisations, but is growing in
importance. It describes the setting, putting in place, of barriers / constraints that prevent
poor quality products or services leaving the organisation. You will need to discuss how this
is carried out (even if the actual term/concept is not visibly acknowledged) in the
organisation you have been focusing on in this section.
Section 3
Demonstrate how you would monitor appropriate systems to improve
organisational performance
* For your response to this section you will need to select an organisation or
department (ideally your own – if this is not possible consult with your tutor) and
carry out the activities in that context. It is almost certain that you will also need
support and guidance from your line manager and-or a specialist manager.
You will need to:
1- design systems to manage and monitor quality standards specified by
the organisation
Here you need to describe one of the quality standards (level of quality, level of
performance) that have been set by the organisation, and describe a system (a set
of procedures) that will monitor that standard and identify areas where it is not
meeting the requirements.
2- demonstrate a quality culture to ensure continuous monitoring,
evaluation and development of the process
Describe, briefly, how the attitudes, approaches, behaviour of individuals and teams
and managers help to ensure that Quality standards are maintained.
3- recommend improvements which align with the organisation's
objectives and goals and which result in improvements
Using the Quality standard that you have focused on above, recommend actions/changes
that will result in improvements and also continue to be in line with, support, the
organisation's overall objectives.
4- report on the wider implications of proposed changes within the organisation
Here you need to discuss potential implications of your recommended changes – for
example the impact on operational costs, on morale and motivation, on customer
satisfaction.
