The coursework will take the form of an extended piece of legal writing. Essay Question: Produce a reasoned argument in favour of changing or reforming any rule or doctrine which you have come across in English Law. Word limit: 1500 Your answer should include the following: 1. Identification of a chosen law to change or reform 2. The benefits of the chosen law 3. The drawbacks of the chosen law 4. Why you feel it needs changing (or reforming) 5. Recommendations – what to change about it and what difference it will make 6. In all your work, you are expected to keep referring to relevant case law Your coursework should be word-processed, printed double-spaced on single –sided sheets. Please use a 12 point font. Not only does it look better, but you will be able to retain a copy on disk for future reference. Make back-up copies. Integration of Theory & Practice 15 The use of the chosen law in both current and previous practice should be explained allowing space for their recommendation to be introduced. Evaluation: Students are expected to explain their views on the chosen through strong argument assessing the law through thorough scrutiny to then prove where the law requires their proposed change. Structure& Presentation: Coursework should be structured like an essay, one extended piece of writing. Presentation should be clear; easy to read. References and bibliography: All cases should be accurately referenced and any other material used to support the essay should be referenced according to the Harvard Referencing system.
