Assignment title: Information
In this assessment you are going to be both consumers and active producers of information. In order to make the most of the value of social collaboration, you will be doing this as part of a small team. Your task is to research your topic and its themes, and then use an online publishing tool to create an informational resource that would be of value to anyone with an interest in this topic. Assessment details Within your team formed during Week 5 Activity 1, you must: • select a topic • research that topic, using credible online sources • use an online publishing tool to produce an informational resource related to your topic. When talking about an online informational resource, we are describing something more sophisticated than a simple text file or PowerPoint slideshow. Teams must make use of an online publishing tool, such as those covered in the Week 6 topic, and ensure that the resulting product is made available online. Your published resource must be accessible – it cannot require a username and password in order to be viewed. The resource that you produce must show evidence of a specific team focus and collaboration. For example, if a team chooses a topic such as sport, then you should also decide on three or four key themes in sport, themes such as injuries, superstars, skills and major events. This way, each individual picks a sport they are interested in but the resource is not merely a presentation of information – it is integrated by themes. Your online resource should also include some sort of conclusion that sums up or brings together all preceding material (see the table you created with your group for Week 5 Activity 1: Piece it all together). The resource must also show evidence of collaboration in production. A consistent format and style should be followed by all contributors, as if the final product had been produced by one individual, including consistency in: • design • text formatting • writing style • use of resources, e.g. types of images. 1 COM10003 Learning and Communicating Online
