Assignment title: Information


This is GROUP assignment carrying 50% of the total marks available for the module. Each group can have minimum of two and maximum of four group members. Format of the report: 1. Font size: 14 point for title/heading, 12 point for contents and 8-9 point for headers/footers 2. Font face: Times New Roman 3. Line spacing: 1.5 4. Proper alignment of your paragraphs, and necessary page set-up. 5. Word count: 2,000 (excluding materials in Appendices) Students are required to develop a Website for company which makes booking for trekking trips. There should be two users Customer and Admin. Customers should be able to enquire about upcoming trekking trips, should be able to make booking for selected trekking trip. Website should provide required information for the first time trekker. Students can use any web technology to develop the website they are familiar with. Students are required to design the database for the given scenario, connection of database to the website is optional. The core of website development is they have to use SCRUM methodology to develop the website. Students are required to follow all the steps involved in Scrum methodology and plan the software development accordingly. Students are required to look for the templates used in SCRUM methodology in each and every phase and try to plan their work close to the template specifications. Deliverables by the Students Task 1 (Update the scenario) The group must update and rewrite the scenario using a suitable team-oriented method by adding more actors, events etc in order to create a cost effective Information System. The final updated version of the scenario must be approved by the module leader. Task 2.0 (Modelling Tasks) Task 2.1 (DFD diagram) Develop a high level DFD diagram (aka Context diagram or Level 0 diagram) based on the database design for the information system. · Identify the main process in the case study. · Identify the internal and external entities in the case study. · Identify the Data store and data flow in the system. · Draw the Context 0 level DFD diagram for the case study and state any assumptions made. Task 2. 2 (Pre game phase) · Plan for the sprint according to the team size and work load · Work in team and assign work to each other. · Identify role of all the team members involved in the project development. · Prepare product backlog list based on the scenario developed above. Task 2. 3 (Development Phase) · Using team based approach plan for the sprints · Prepare sprint backlog list based on the product backlog. Task 2. 4 (Post Game Phase): · Provide evidence of system testing and integration of various components of software. Task 2. 5 (Develop a simple working C/S prototype for the system ) · Develop a working prototype based on the scenario developed · Implement the website using any technology. There should be a database connection and use should be able to perform basic operations of website. Task 3 (Research on CASE tools) 1. The group should conduct a literature research on CASE tools and need to discuss compare CASE tools with other traditional tools for Software development. 2. Write 1000 words comparative report on CASE tools. There should depth in making comparisons and discussing advantages and disadvantages. There should be references with in-text citations using Harvard Referencing system.
