Assignment title: Information
1. write-up and critical analysis of a cross-cultural client interview OR 2. reflective journal of cross-cultural client experiences in your own practice OR 3. compare and contrast your experiences working in the Australian health care system with your experiences working in the health care system of another country. Option 1: Analysis of cross-cultural client interview To complete this option you will: conduct an interview with a client from a cultural background different to your own write a brief summary of the interview highlighting your approaches to the interview and interview techniques rather than the actual interview content, and write an analysis of your interview process and techniques, including reflection on areas of strength and strategies for improvement. Your interview should cover aspects such as heritage, language, immigration (if applicable), religion/spirituality, family and community, festivals or other celebrations, education and health-related beliefs. It is NOT meant to be clinical interview or systems review. Audio or video tape your interview (with permission of course!) and use the tape to review your interview techniques and prepare your assignment. NB: Use a framework such as that provided in your set text to critically analyse your interviewing technique including your use of communication techniques and appropriate cross-cultural approaches. Use other appropriate references to support your points. The interview summary and analysis should emphasise the processes and techniques of cross-cultural interviewing, using examples from the interview and the literature to illustrate and support your points. In order to provide a clear analysis, compare and contrast your practice with the research-based recommendations. How did you or did you not address the research recommendations? Be explicit. Submit your summary of the interview and analysis. This task will be assessed against the Grading rubric (written assignments). Tips: Use your report to analyse your interview process and techniques. In order to provide a clear analysis, compare and contrast your assessment, including documentation, with the process and techniques described in the literature. How did you or did you not address the areas and strategies in the literature? Be explicit. Use a range of literature to support your points. Refer to the Grading rubric (written assignments) to help you structure your analytical report.
