Assignment title: Information

Evaluate any three system development lifecycle models that can be followed while developing any information system. Select one to be used for the above scenario and justify your selection by comparing with other models. [P1.1, M1, D1] 1.2 Discuss the importance of following a procedural/staged lifecycle in a systems investigation. You should list the different stages that must be followed for your selected system development lifecycle model and discuss the activities in each stage. Where applicable, list the documents you produce at each stage outlining their importance. [P1.1, P1.2]  To achieve M1, you must demonstrate an effective approach to study and research has been applied and that effective judgements have been made in regards to selection and justification of lifecycle models appropriate for the given scenario and will have met the deadline to submit the tasks and achieve the unit assessment criteria.  To achieve D1, you must show the use of critical reflection to evaluate your own work and justify valid conclusions. 2 2.1 Discuss the components of a typical feasibility report and thus prepare a feasibility report for your scenario. Discuss the various information collecting and fact finding techniques you adopted. Your report should also discuss about the different components (purpose; structure; intended audience; outcomes) [P2.1, M2] 2.2 Why do organisations need to conduct feasibility analysis before making a firm decision about a project? Within this context, assess the impact of the different feasibility criteria on a systems investigation for the above scenario. You should include criteria such as economic, technical, timescale, operational in your study. [P2.1, P2.2, D2]  To achieve M2, you should have applied the relevant theories and techniques in information collecting and fact finding in compiling your feasibility student report.  To achieve D2, you should have made alternative approach and critical evaluation procedures, demonstrating autonomy and independence. Also will have met the deadline to submit the tasks and achieve the unit assessment criteria and thus taken the responsibility for managing and organising activities. Task 3 3.1& 3.2 Undertake a systems investigation to meet a business need using appropriate systems analysis tools and techniques. To this end, discuss the different types of systems analysis tools and demonstrate how different process modelling techniques e.g. context diagram, use case diagrams, detailed data flow diagrams are used to conceptualise the processes of the proposed system and explain how the user and system requirements have been addressed. You are expected to apply UML modelling techniques to represent the data model. The data model should represent all the relevant user stories, business rules, integrities and validation Department of Information Technology Page 4 of 7 procedures. [P3.1, P3.2, D3] 3.3 Create a system investigation report for the given scenario. The document should address background information, problem statements, data collection process and summary with recommendations. The report must also consider relevant constraints specific to a given activity e.g. costs, policies, legacy systems, technology etc. Formulate a project specification (work narrative, business rules, input, output, processing, functional and non-functional requirements) based on the requirements gathering techniques you adopted for the above company. [P3.3, M3] 3.4 Using an appropriate technique such as V&V table for example, evaluate how user and systems requirements have been addressed within the model. [P3.4]  To achieve M2, you should have applied a relevant theories and techniques of system investigation.  To achieve D3, you should have made an appropriate structure and approach to represent the given requirement's data model and a range of methods of presentation has been used and technical language have been accurately used
