Assignment title: Information
You are now required to create a Digital Tablet Research Report which will be handed to your manager for review before attending the digital tablet conference. By reviewing this report, your manager will be able to develop a clear understanding of two tablet technologies, how tablet technologies could be successfully implemented into AustPak as staff devices, and the requirements for such a project. Please make sure that you format your report to follow the requirements of the AustPak Style Guide provided by your supervising manager (your tutor) during Assessment 3A This report will require you to use and research/gather data from various sources, including the information from your previous assessment piece for this unit. As per your manager's response from Assessment 3A, it is essential that you follow the company's organisational policies and procedures for delivering a report. AustPak Requirements Overview Listed below are the current circumstances and requirements that must be considered when producing a proposed solution for AustPak. Hardware 15 sales staff currently use laptops on the AustPak showroom floor when serving customers (looking up product information, walking with customers while discussing different purchase options, checking stock levels, processing sales etc). Sales staff use the Wi-Fi system available at the AustPak office to send and receive data wirelessly between their laptop and the AustPak Wi-Fi network/Central Server/Internet. Staff have stated that the weight of laptops makes them quite difficult to carry around the showroom floor. 10 managers currently use laptops when travelling on the road (checking emails, visiting websites, updating word processor and spreadsheet files stored on the cloud). Currently, these staff are limited to only accessing the internet and files on the AustPak server when connected to a local Wi-Fi network at hotels, and they would really like to be able to access the internet from anywhere via cellular/mobile network technology. Both sales staff and managers have stated that any tablet devices considered as laptop replacements must have at a minimum 32GB of internal memory. Software Only managerial staff require tablet devices with Apps that can create and edit word processing files and spreadsheet files. All staff require tablets with web browsers to view the internet. All staff need to be able to access files on the centralised AustPak server – you will need to consider software Apps to allow tablets to access and perform this function. Network Wi-Fi access speed at the AustPak office often runs slow, running on a 10-year-old wireless router. Although useful for sending/transmitting small amounts of data, it slows right down when multiple staff are trying to stream high bandwidth content such as high-definition movie clips to their laptops for customers/staff to see. You will need to consider tablet cellular/mobile network data plans for the 10 managerial tablets that will be on the road. Each manager has stated that they will need to transfer a minimum of 4GB per month from their tablet device. The AustPak office currently has a very basic internet plan, which only includes 50GB of data per month for the office. Staff are finding that this is running out mid-month, resulting in data capping being imposed until the next month. Consequently, staff can't access high speed/bandwidth content from the internet until the next month commences and the plan is reset. Should the project go ahead, you have been assigned a budget of $25,000. This must cover all hardware, software and setup costs for the first 12 months of the project. Your manager requires you to produce a requirements report detailing the benefits, cost and requirements of introducing tablets as replacement devices for staff laptops at AustPak, including any supporting infrastructure to allow fast and efficient network access for all staff.
