Read and reflect upon the following case study. Then, you will write an analysis of the case. Case Study: Male Student (Third Grade Level) This student is performing two to three grade levels below his same age peers in all academic areas, including reading. He has difficulties performing in areas with high levels of noise. Pre-referral health history indicated premature birth issues. Some questions exist concerning difficulties with hearing. Previous teachers have reported that he is easily distracted and impulsive. His social skills are poor, especially with same age peers. Reading difficulties have been noted in the areas of reading decoding skills and mastery of basic vocabulary words. Teachers are concerned about the fact that his test-taking skills are poor and performance is three grade levels below the expected level. Accommodations and modifications will be needed to help him succeed. He has poor fine motor skills that might respond well to the use of specific computer programs. He responds well to peer tutoring and guided practice activities as well as to individualized instruction.
