The objective of this assignment is to assess the following learning outcomes: • Use a positive plan of guidance which supports responsive inclusive relationships with children • Use a variety of skills to anticipate and solve problems • Analyse, evaluate and apply relevant information from a variety of sources Purpose The purpose of the assignment is to apply principles and theories about child guidance taught in class, read in the Bullard text, and in supplemental articles, and apply them to the practicum setting. You will have an opportunity to focus on the particular behaviour of a child and plan strategies to respond using the principles of responsive inclusive practice. Format This assignment will be submitted in essay format as you respond to questions and responsive planning template prompts about a child. The child from your placement setting cannot be identified – so there is to be no use of names of the child, staff, or setting. Requirements for Success • APA format for in text citations and references are to be used. Use your Cites and Sources text as a reference • Include a Title Page, Reference Page and blank rubric with your submission • No proper/real names of children, adults or programs can be used in any part of this assignment • The Bullard (pp. 41 – 46) text, the two articles posted on Blackboard, and the Ministry Documents are to be used as resources. • Read and use the rubric often to guide your work. Look at the criteria that is expected before you start the assignment and as you continue to complete it. Step 1 Choose a child • Choose a child that you want to focus on for this assignment. The child should exhibit some behaviour that you find challenging in your placement setting. Step 2 Complete the introduction Answer the following questions/prompts: • What name are you going to use for the child? • How old is the child? • Give a brief physical description of the child. • What developmental domain(s) and skill(s) are important at this age? What can the child do? Use ELECT and provide at least on example from each domain. • What else is important to know about the child?
