This assessment requires you to research and develop knowledge to better understand different types of events as well as the current and emerging technologies within the industry to ensure your events are efficient, effective and professional. Individually, you are required to complete the following tasks: Task 1 – Select and develop events case studies 1. Select two (2) different Australian events (one should be a hallmark or major event, the other should be a minor or community event) held in 2013. Note: The event can be any type of event (sporting, business, leisure, cultural or SMERF event) discussed in class during your lectures but they should be different in type, content and style. They should be events that you can find information about. 2. Collate as much information as possible about these two events from a wide range of sources (textbooks, journals/magazines, online, phone or face-to-face interviews, personal experience etc) 3. Prepare a 600-word case study on each of these events, explaining: • the purpose of holding each event (100 words) • the general characteristics of the attendees at each event (demographics, sociographics, common interests etc) (100 words) • the format of each event (100 words) • the staging elements and suppliers used at each event (300 words) Major Project Part 2 – SITIEM14 Introduction to Event Management Last updated 10/07/2014 Task 2 – Technologies in events 1. Referring to these case studies, identify the event technologies used in the administration and staging of each of the events. These technologies could include (but not be limited to) registrations, sales and marketing, communications, staging and security. 2. Research and identify current and emerging event technologies that could have been incorporated into these events 3. Add a 250-word section to each case study outlining these technologies and explaining how they could be used to improve the day-to-day activities and the staging of these events
