Assignment Task Task-1 (1600 +-10% words.) Task-2 (400 +-10% words.) Format: Code & Report Your assignment consists of two tasks: task one is the design and development of website for a beauty salon shop to improve their marketing (worth 75% of the total marks for the assignment), and task two is a critical self-reflective commentary on task one (worth 25% of the total marks for the assignment). Task 1 New Look Beauty Salon has expanded over the years from a family run salon to a chain institute which provides all different types of experiences from treatments to therapies. On a typical day you could book a cut and style according to the time that suits you or you may gift a relaxing foot massage to a loved one. Anything that makes you look or feel better in your body, New Look can take care of. With all this business growth the management has come to realise the dire need of becoming up to date with the current technology. Not only do they need a good website that may promote their business as well as facilitate the clients with prior bookings and customer services, but also they need strong online presence on desktop and mobile devices. The management has now decided to bring their business online and launch their own website. They have contacted the web consultancy firm, Bizzolutions for which you work, and they want you to design and create a website that is compatible with all devices, is eye catching, user friendly and creates a strong online presence. You will design, develop and test a website for the New Look Beauty Salon. This should include: 1. A simple yet professional looking interface. 2. A system to link the pages (minimum five pages). 3. Site should display a welcome message and brief background about the company. 4. User should be able to view pictures of services offered in a gallery. 5. Business hours should also be displayed in table form. 6. Some mechanism to receive queries from customers. 7. Contact area (preferably address map pulled from Google Map or similar). 8. Some sort of visual/audio prompt to draw customers' attention to latest news. Deliverables You should submit a report including design, documentation, the code for the website, screenshots and evidence of validation to Turnitin and Portal. Your submission should consist of the following: • Design documentations e.g. annotated sketch diagrams/wire-frames; colour schemes and style patterns etc. Your report will show how you have addressed accessibility in your design e.g. checks on user input, different colour patterns for visually impaired, short cuts etc. • Development e.g. Screen shots of website and the original code for the site in plain text. • Testing e.g. Evidence of HTML & CSS validation check and steps taken to remove errors. • Evidence of setting up WAMP server to demonstrate understanding of how to upload files on the internet. Task One is worth 75% of the total marks for the overall assignment. The marking criteria is outlined below. Task 2: Self-Reflective Commentary Your second task is to write a self-reflective commentary about your website design and development techniques. Having created your website project, you should write a self-reflective commentary (approx. 400 words +-10%) critically reflecting on your Project. You commentary should critically explore the work you have done to produce your Project. You should reflect on: 1. Your research as you produced your Project. 2. The decisions you made as you worked on your Project. 3. Where you think you succeeded and where you think you could have room for improvement. 4. What you would do differently if you were to attempt to do your Project again and what you would do with your Project if you could develop it further. Your commentary should show evidence of your reading and research and use Harvard referencing. Your commentary is a chance for you to critically analyse your own work, showing an awareness of strengths as well as identifying potential areas which could use improvement if they were to be done again. Deliverables You should attach your commentary to your Project document and submit one document to Turnitin and Portal.
