Country Study Project: Each student will choose one country as the object of study. He/she is required to examine the country's political, economic, and social environments, and its positions in trade and foreign investment and government's policies for these. The student is required to collect the economic data for past 10 years (if applicable) and study its pattern of development. Based the country analysis, the student will provide a recommendation and supporting argument on whether his/her assigned MNE should enter that country, or should expand/scale down its operations in that market. If the recommendation is to move forward, the entry mode and implementation plan should also be presented. Internet resources shall be used to find the country information, and Excel with its data analysis tools and functions are to be used for the country analysis. The report is due in the eighth week of the class. For the purpose of assurance of learning, the student will receive three scores for the Country Analysis Report, based on: a.Score 1: The thoroughness and effectiveness of the socio-economic country analysis (MBA-2G); b.Score 2: The effectiveness in integrating the country analysis and the firm study to make a meaningful decision (MBA-3M); and c.Score 3: Identifying the relevant economic factors and various measures used to assess the attractiveness of a country's market to the foreign MNE (MBA-ECON).
