1. Select an approach to curriculum development or maximum two approaches ( Reggio Emillio and/or Steiner). Discuss this approach and explain why you have selected it and how it fits with your personal philosophy of early childhood education. Its in a first person viewpoint. It must have lots of reference in this part. (900 words) 2. Complete a 2 weeks plan of concept map( which means 10 days worth of plan in the learning areas of the concept map) and 20 activites in the developmental domains map, which will form initial documentation for a project/investigation that you might pursue with a group of 3 year old children. (In practice, this initial documentation would be adapted in response to children's ideas, questions and motivation as the project unfolds.) The concept map should have a theme/topic for example: Farming animals, under the ocean theme, fairytale and much more for three year olds. The concept map should reveal connections across areas of development (developmental domains and learning areas) and show how u could collaborate with families. The activities must include collaboration with families (ex collecting something from home) I have attached two concept map one is for learning areas and the other is for developmental domains. For the learning areas concept map it has to cover the numeracy which is maths and literacy which is English part and one other area that is related to the theme or the main topic of the concept map. It must be for 3 year old kids. Attach one appendix: -a list of specific resources you could collect to extend children's understandings, provoke questioning and facilitate their exploration. A list of resources that I will use and collect from the concept map. It can be a table form of what I have used and collected. 3. Use the forward planning template to plan three consecutive mat sessions related to the concept map. So u must take one idea from the concept map and plan 3 mat sessions for 10minutes each (eg making bread). The 3 mat sessions have to flow with each other. Its for three days which is Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. In the mat session the kids don't have to be on the mat the whole time they can go out and do things too. In the concept map u only must include outcomes, specific lesson objectives and assessment. Ensure u include both what you will assess and how u intend to assess the learning. (Don't read a book during he mat session because 3 year olds cant stay still). The learning Centre plan must be used in conjunction with the forward planning template to outline the small group task the children will complete after each mat session, so there will be three learning centre plan after each mat sessions. Your learning Centre activities should reflect your curriculum approach outline in part one of this task. In the learning centre plan only 6 centres open will do. ยท There should be objectives for teacher directed box. Clear objectives written AND specific forms of assessment (what & how) Concept map and lesson should link to curriculum approach in part one of this task. I have attached 2 concept maps, which are for the learning areas and developmental domains, forward planning document and a Learning Centre Plan and also the marking rubric for this assignment.
