COURSEWORK 1: Personal & Professional Development - Learning Portfolio This Learning Portfolio requires you to reflect on the individual dimensions of change management. This has two sections: a 1000 word learning summary (Section A) and an evidence-based self-evaluation (Section B). The assessment provides an opportunity to reflect critically on your personal and professional development and the implications for your future career. Objectives The learning portfolio is designed to develop your ability to: • Summarise and critically reflect on your learning from experience • Understand conceptual frameworks of individual learning, development & change • Reflect on your strengths/weaknesses in relation to the individual dimensions of change management, including personal resilience and reflexive self-awareness • Identify the need for personal change to achieve your preferred futures Section A: Reflective Summary of Learning TASK: Based on the evidence that you have collected about yourself in Section B and drawing upon relevant theories and literature, you are required to critically reflect on what you have learned about your personal aptitude for change management. Your learning should be illustrated with a number of examples from your experience, including one relating to working in a group. Discuss how your personal learning relates to general principles of the effective management of individual change. You should finish with an outline of your plans for changes that you will make to help you to achieve your future personal and career goals and objectives. Remember that for a reflective summary of this kind, your learning starts with you and your experience. It is essential that you work with relevant theories to support your self-insight - both fundamental parts of the learning process. Remember to pay attention to the marking schemes/ criteria for Section A. Section A is an opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding and requires an analysis of and critical engagement with the evidence gathered in Section B. Therefore, the evidence gathered in Section B should not merely be repeated or 'cut and pasted'. Section A: Marking Scheme and Weighting Tutors will mark the Reflective Summary based on the following assessment criteria: • Knowledge and understanding of relevant theories • Analysis linking theory and practice • Critical evaluation and coherent argument The detailed marking scheme is provided in Appendix 1 at the end of this Assignment Brief. Section A is worth a maximum of 70% of the marks for the Learning Portfolio. Section B: Evidence Based Self-Evaluation TASK: You are required to perform a self-evaluation that has two elements: 1. Review of your aptitude for change management 2. Future Personal and Career Plans You should use the MOIC Learning Portfolio pro forma (see Appendix 2), which provides a detailed explanation and the structure of each element. If you choose to add documentary evidence to support your self evaluation then these should be anonymised and included in an Appendix. SECTION A: Reflective Summary of Learning The word limit for Section A is 1000 words +/- 10%. Please note: References for Section B should be included following any Appendices at the end of the Learning Portfolio SECTION B: EVIDENCE OF YOUR PERSONAL APTITUDE FOR CHANGE MANAGEMENT From the list below of four aspects of a personal aptitude for change management, select TWO to write about (write at least 100 words for each): Aptitude Evidence (e.g. experiences, reflections, feedback, psychometrics, other resources) Self-awareness Interpersonal Influence and Team Working Personal Resilience Emotional intelligence GUIDANCE: Collecting evidence about yourself is intended to provide a basis for a critical reflection on, and analysis of, your personal learning relevant to managing change. You should seek to identify evidence of these personal aptidudes. NOTE: this might include evidence of a lack. Identifying areas of weakness can be helpful in identifying development needs, which you will need to address if they are relevant to achieving your personal and career goals and objectives. Relevant personal experiences that provide evidence of your level of aptitude could include: • Events or interactions in college/school, with family and friends, at work • Many exercises in the MOIC Seminars provide relevant structured experiences (e.g. Listening Exercise, Rich Pictures, Giving and Receiving Feedback, group tasks, etc.) Evidence from reflections or feedback might include: • Important insights that have occurred to you following particular events, including readings or teaching • Comments from others about your behaviour or performance in particular situations Evidence from psychometrics might include: • Those made available on MOIC (e.g. Learning Styles Indicator, Type Dynamics Indicator, Values Based Indicator of Motivation, Influencing Styles Inventory) • Self evaluations and tests taken elsewhere (e.g. many workplaces use the Myers Briggs Type Indicator) PERSONAL AND FUTURE CAREER PLANS Write at least 100 words for each of the three planning elements below: Planning Element Evidence (e.g. experiences, reflections, feedback, psychometrics, other resources) Personal and Career Goals & Objectives: What type of person am I?
