​​​ Scenario 1 Assess computing needs in the Business Both Terry and Jane run small home based businesses. They wish to integrate their businesses together, but have experienced great difficult in agreeing on a receipts storage system. Both their businesses have to deal with a lot of receipts on a daily basis. They do this to help reduce the amount of taxes that they pay, how long it takes to compile tax records. They also must keep their receipts for a period of 7 years legally. To complicate the matter both Terry and Jane have their own methods for collecting and organising receipts. Terry has used his "Shoebox system" for over 10 years. He simply picks a large container like a shoebox, and uses it to store his receipts. He considers that it is relatively easy to adopt and maintain, and requires little effort to sort out for tax purposes. On the other hand, Jane also has her own method for dealing with receipts. She has used her "Envelope system" for years. Unlike Terry's shoebox system, she assigns a series of small envelopes for each category of receipts at the beginning of every financial year, and then files receipts into related envelopes daily. After listening to their systems, their accountant suggests that their book keeping operations should go digital. However, both Terry and Jane have no idea on how to go digital. They also don't have a computer at home. They have asked for your help. Based on your observations from the scenario above, and the skills that you have learnt from this course, create a report document to help Terry and Jane go digital. In your report, you should include the following:  Analyse the benefits of moving their business operations to digital format, and suggest a list of required hardware, software, and communication services that they would need to implement along with costs associated with each.  Suggest a suitable software solution that can be used to replace their shoebox/envelope systems, and explain why this solution would be much better than their existing systems.  Suggest some methods to help Terry and Jane protect their data and computer system. This should include physical protection, data protection, and system protection.  By implementing a digital solution, Terry and Jane are not only fixing their receipts sorting problem, they also getting many more advantages by using computing technology in their business. Create a summary to explain what the advantages of computers in business are, based on the cost-effectiveness, performance-effectiveness, and communicationeffectiveness areas. Scenario 2 How cloud computing meets the business needs AH Web Service Pty Ltd provide web design and hosting services in Melbourne. Based on the companies computing equipment renewal policy, they are looking to perform a major hardware upgrade soon. Currently, the company has 1 Domain Controller, 8 Web Servers, and 1 Exchange Server running on a Microsoft Server 2000 network infrastructure (GbEthernet) with 1 Mb point to point lease line connection to the Internet. They are servicing 55 business websites nationwide, and estimate their business will double in the next 3 years. The company's General Manager and the IT Infrastructure Manager have differing opinions regarding the upcoming upgrade. The General Manager is interested in the concept of cloud computing for cost saving purposes, but the IT Infrastructure Manager is worried that a virtual machine running in a cloud will be slower than the same physical machine without virtualisation. As an experienced IT consulting contractor, you are asked to investigate and create a report that includes the following: · You must apply cloud computing knowledge gained from the textbook, especially chapters 1 to 5, and 11 for this report · Investigate the issue that was raised by the IT Infrastructure Manager to determine if cloud computing is suitable for this business.
