Assignment Completion Method: Your assignment will involve two important phases, which will require you to: Part A: Answer the following questions: • Question 1: What is the difference between Twitter and Instant Messaging? (~250 Words) • Question 2: List and briefly discuss three (3) benefits of a business-related social media strategy. (~250 Words) • Question 3: What are virtual teams and how can they help to improve an organisation's capabilities? (~250 Words) • Question 4: What is the role of a content management system? How can it help an organisation gain a competitive advantage? (~250 Words) Part B: Use the Toulmin's Model of Argument to analyse the supplied Assignment Case Study (see the Assignment Case Study section below) and provide your opinion on the strength or weakness of the argument with relation to the Claim that we have provided. (~ 600 words). You MUST use these instructions to complete the 'Your Opinion' section of Part B: To apply the model to test the validity/strength of a CLAIM the reader must examine each sentence in the article and categorise them as a Toulmin element or as an unnecessary extra e.g. 'opinion', 'hearsay', 'definitions' etc. Once all sentences have been categorised then the elements should be examined in sequence.© Deakin University MIS101 – Business Information Systems 4 1. What is the CLAIM? We have provided this for you already. 2. Is there any DATA to support the CLAIM? If so how much? The quantity and quality of DATA can suggest the strength of the CLAIM. 3. Is there a WARRANT (Explicit or Implicit)? Explicit WARRANTS are often stronger because the author can direct the reader to accept the CLAIM. Implicit WARRANTS leave the reader's opinion open to interpretation and this may go against the author's intended purpose. 4. Is there BACKING? If so how much? The quantity and quality of BACKING can suggest strength of the WARRANT and thus may increase the strength of the CLAIM. 5. Is there a REBUTTAL? The quantity and scope of the REBUTTAL may reduce the strength of the CLAIM and thus dissuade the reader's acceptance of the CLAIM. 6. Is there a QUALIFIER? If so, to what extent does it reduce the scope of the CLAIM because this will impact on the strength of the CLAIM? 7.Your Opinion – this is a personal perception based on your interpretation of the article. The presence, quality and quantity of the different Toulmin elements must be applied to make this critical assessment. Assessment and Submission Instructions: 1. Assignment Case Study: Claim: >>> Facebook's security ineffective against identity fraud. Social networks are not only plagued by lawsuits, viruses, phishers, money lenders, and the government's watchful eye. With the amount of people freely offering all sorts of relevant details about their personal lives on Facebook, a rise in identity fraud on the site is likely to happen. This explains why social media juggernaut Facebook, the primary online attraction for a lot of people (1.15 billion monthly active users as of June 2013, to be exact) is constantly under attack or serious scrutiny. A 2014 report from Symantec Security detailed an increase in identity fraud attacks on Facebook users from 56% in 2012 to 81% in 2013. As social networking use increases and the technology associated with it advances, so do the associated security issues. Symantec noted that even though there is a prevalence of identity theft scams on Facebook, it is mostly the users' bad practices in relation to password and information sharing that was putting the users' themselves at risk of worse consequences. Symantec exampled typical login and password stealing scams as advertisements for a cool app's that users can trial for free, or offerings of downloads such as a song from a favourite artist which conveniently require user name and password credentials to be entered before the app or song can be accessed. The Symantec report detailed Facebook attackers are often seeking account credentials such as user names and passwords so they can spread the scam. It is this propagation technique, which works well because it is encouraging the victim to share information about the app with friends and if the friend accesses the app they too become victims.© Deakin University MIS101 – Business Information Systems 7 Conman turned FBI security expert, Frank Abagnale, spoke about the dangers of identity theft on social networking sites warning that by simply indicating your date of birth or place of birth on your personal profile you are providing fraudsters with 98% of the information they need to steal your identity. Facebook representative Mr. Sec Urity noted that Facebook has mechanisms in place to keep an account safe. In particular Facebook provides the users with many security settings to prevent fraudulent behaviour including passwords, privacy settings and the ability to limit profile access. In addition in 2013 Facebook site wide adopted the Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) making it more difficult for hackers or anyone to track users. Astoundingly, when this option was released to Facebook users in 2011 they were given the choice to adopt this mechanism to improve their security however only one third chose to do this. It was Facebook who decided to make it a site wide security strategy to improve the users' security. Frank Abagnale further stated that generally Facebook users are not aware it is their responsibility to put many of the security measures available in place. Not surprisingly when they do actually address the security options available most don't select the strongest because increased security is seen to limit the social aspect of the site which defeats the reason for using it.
