Assignment title: Information

DAH811 – Architectural Design 8 Assessment Item Three – Project 3. Introduction Now that you have completed the Schematic Design and preliminary Technical exploration of you glazing/structural systems, it is now time to fully resolve and document these, while additionally including others like building services… Please remember that the brief, as defined in Project 1, is relevant to all the projects in DAH811 – it cannot be ignored! What is required for Assessment Item Three (Project 3)? You are therefore required to produce the Final Design proposal, or Design Development (please refer to http://ogs.ny.gov/BU/DC/docs/pdf/04032DesignDevelopmentPhase.pdf and http://www.aia.org/aiaucmp/groups/secure/documents/pdf/aiab094998.pdf for exact definitions of Final or Design Development) of the Hall of Democracy. Format Your will present you design using plans, sections, elevations, and 3D representations, using A1 size sheets. Furthermore, you are additionally required to construct and present a physical model; this model will be of final presentation quality. When and how is it due? The assessment for Project 3 is due, for oral presentation by each individual during the designated Wednesday studio time in Week 12 (19 October 2016). In addition to the physical presentation of your work, you are also required to upload an identical Portable Document Format (PDF) duplicate of the printed hard copy to the unit's Blackboard site, for the Unit Coordinators further consideration and moderation. This PDF submission is due in Week 15, 9 November 2016 by 12H00 (midday). In addition to being an exact duplicate of the work that you presented in Week 12, the intention of the Week 15 submission is to illustrate any additions or changes that you would like to make to you design following the Week 12 oral review. Any additions or changes must be clearly marked and clearly distinguished from the original. The link for the PDF upload can be found under the Assessment tab of Blackboard. You are required to do all of the above – the oral presentation in Week 12 and the PDF submission in Week 15. If you miss any of these submissions, a zero mark will be awarded.7 6 5 4 3 2 1 40% "An ability to resolve a complex architectural design problem, through critical, creative and analytical thinking that demonstrates your understanding of cities as a context, and the forces shaping their development." Demonstrated ability to effectively produce a Final Design that:  Generates quality of place.  Is connected to its present and future contexts.  Responds to the brief.  Illustrates process in relation to design evolution. Provides an exceptional level of design skill that intelligently and creatively demonstrates a radical knowledge of context, brief requirements, process and place qualities. The resultant Final Design is therefore correct in all regards and has no obvious errors or clashes. Provides an very high level of design skill that intelligently demonstrates an advanced knowledge of context, brief requirements, process and place qualities. The resultant Final Design is therefore correct in almost all regards and has a few flaws and conflicts. Provides a high level of design skill that demonstrates a moderate knowledge of context, brief requirements, process and place qualities. The resultant Final Design is therefore frequently correct and has numerous flaws and conflicts. Provides an acceptable level of design skill that demonstrates a adequate knowledge of context, brief requirements, process and place qualities. The resultant Final Design is therefore mostly correct and has numerous obvious flaws and conflicts. Provides evidence of limited and/or disconnected design skill that demonstrates an inappropriate knowledge of context, brief requirements, process and place qualities. The resultant Final Design is therefore frequently incorrect and has numerous fundamental flaws and conflicts. Provides evidence of minimal or inferior design skill that demonstrates little, if any, knowledge of context, brief requirements, process and place qualities The resultant Final Design is therefore incorrect and is fundamentally flawed. Provides evidence of little or no design skill that demonstrates little, if any, knowledge of context, brief requirements, process and place qualities. The resultant Final Design is therefore incomplete, confusing and is fundamentally flawed. DAH811 – Architectural Design 8 Project 3 - Assessment and Feedback7 6 5 4 3 2 1 40% "An ability to research, analyse and integrate appropriate building services, environmentally sustainable technologies, structural systems, and construction solutions into advanced building design." Demonstrated ability to effectively produce a Final Design that:  Responds to the brief.  Illustrates process, research inputs and analytical decision making in regards to the building's structure and fabric.  Exhibits applied architectural sustainability in the building's structure and fabric.  Is cognisant of Legislative restraints like the Brisbane City Plan, Queensland Development Code, National Construction Code and the Queensland Sustainable Planning Act. Provides an extraordinary level of design and technical thinking that intelligently and creatively responds to the brief, process, research inputs, analytical decision making and legislation. The resultant Final Design is therefore an excellent synthesis of design and architectural technology. Provides a very high level of design and technical thinking that intelligently demonstrates an advanced response to the brief, process, research inputs, analytical decision making and legislation. The resultant Final Design is therefore a very good synthesis of design and architectural technology. Provides a high level of design and technical thinking that demonstrates a moderate response to the brief, process, research inputs, analytical decision making and legislation. The resultant Final Design is therefore a good synthesis of design and architectural technology. Provides a satisfactory level of design and technical thinking that demonstrates an adequate response to the brief, process, research inputs, analytical decision making and legislation. The resultant Final Design is therefore an appropriate synthesis of design and architectural technology. Provides evidence of limited and/or disconnected design and technical thinking that demonstrates an inappropriate response to the brief, process, research inputs, analytical decision making and legislation. The resultant Final Design is therefore an inappropriate synthesis of design and architectural technology. Provides evidence of minimal or inferior design and technical thinking that demonstrates little, if any, response to the brief, process, research inputs, analytical decision making and legislation. The resultant Final Design therefore shows little synthesis of design and architectural technology. Provides evidence of little or no design and technical thinking that demonstrates little, if any, response of the brief, process, research inputs, analytical decision making and legislation. The resultant Final Design therefore shows no synthesis of design and architectural technology.7 6 5 4 3 2 1 20% Represent and communicate both the spatial and technical resolution of a complex architectural design problem through the preparation of technical reports, advanced design representations, construction documentation and specifications. Demonstrated ability to effectively produce a Final Design that:  Communicates architectural design and technical information. Provides an outstanding level of architectural communication skill that intelligently and creatively conveys an irrefutable message. The resultant Final Design is therefore clearly understood in all regards and has no defects or clashes. Provides a very high level of architectural communication skill that intelligently conveys an advanced message. The resultant Final Design is therefore applicably understood in almost all regards and has a few flaws and conflicts. Provides a high level of communication skill that mostly conveys a realistic message The resultant Final Design is therefore frequently understood but has some flaws and conflicts. Provides an conventional level of communication skill that conveys a conventional message. The resultant Final Design is therefore somewhat understood and has numerous mistakes and conflicts. Provides evidence of limited and/or detached communication skill that conveys an unsuitable message. The resultant Final Design is therefore incorrectly understood and has numerous fundamental flaws and conflicts. Provides evidence of minimal or substandard communication skill that conveys little, if any, message. The resultant Final Design is therefore inappropriately understood and is flawed.
