Assignment title: Information

Description An important skill for any graduate student is the ability to independently read and critique research papers. In this assignment, you are to choose an HCI research topic and conduct a literature review of the topic. One way to pick a topic is to look at the list here http://hcibib.org/hot-topics You could pick a topic related to your project, or you could pick a topic completely different, any topic is fine. The idea is to go through several publications about that topic, and summarize what they said, and then also summarize the collective view (do they all agree? If they don't all agree, what are the two sides?). This review should be around 2000-2500 words, double-spaced, font 12. Specific examples should be analysed and discussed to illustrate the different points and the review should end with a possible guess at what the future could offer in terms of new possibilities and prospects for the topic. Students are expected to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of HCI and HCI research and to express their views clearly and effectively. The specific choices in terms of examples and research material as well as writing skills will also be taken into account. Submission Guidelines • you should submit a MS word file or a pdf file • use your name as the file name, with the format as FirstnameLastname.doc or .pdf • the document header should include your name and student ID. • you should upload the submission via LearnJCU. • late assignment will be subject to penalty mentioned in the subject guide.
