Purpose of Assessment
The purpose of this assessment is to help student to form team and effectively manage team work. .
Description of Assessment
• Your assessor will be marking you against a competency checklist, provided later in this document, to ensure you have met the requirements of each of the relevant competencies. Should you be deemed not yet competent by your assessor and require re-assessment, your assessor of the process for re-assessment will inform you. If you feel the decision made by your assessor was in fact incorrect please refer to your student handbook for information on the assessment appeals process and the steps you are required to undertake.
• Assignment must be typed; no handwritten assignments will be accepted.
• Every member of the team must submit a copy of their team charter on Moodle at completion
Plagiarism Statement

Assignment Rules
• The assessment must be formatted in the students own words. Where the internet is used for research, a reference list must be listed as an appendix at the end of the assignment. The Harvard referencing system must be applied. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Harvard_referencing
• Collusion or copying from other students is not permitted.
• Failure to adhere to these rules will result in penalties being applied in the final determination of your assessment.
• In order to determine if you are addressing this assignment adequately in terms of competency/comprehension (prior to due date) a draft copy of your assessment could be discussed during class time in consultation with your Trainer/Assessor. For this feedback/ support from your Trainer/Assessor, you will need to bring to class your "draft copy" with any evidence of the research you have conducted to produce the assessment.
• If, as a student you feel you have special needs that require your Trainer/Assessor to apply a reasonable adjustment – please discuss this with your Trainer/Assessor at the beginning of the subject studies.
• Your Assignment must:

• Every members of the team must be present in the presentation. You can use PowerPoint or Prezi to make your presentation slides. Presentation slides must be submitted at the end of the presentation. Please note that if you do not attempt the presentation you will receive NO mark for the second part even if you submit a copy of your presentation slides.
Formation of Group:
• Students are required to form their own group of students not less than 2 and not more than 3 students in one group.
• Once the group has been formed by the students, they need to declare their group members name and student ID number to their trainer and are not allowed to include, exclude or swap any group member with other group.
• Without prior declaration of a group and maintaining a logbook group work will not be accepted.
• With the prior permission of the trainer, in an exceptional circumstance, students can form a group of two students or complete the assessment individually.
• For groups to be effective, members need to work together to complete a task. Members of a group may have to relate and communicate in a number of ways: face-to-face as a whole group, through phone links, via email or other electronic communication, or a combination of these.
Assessment Description:
This assessment consists of two parts.
1. First part of the assessment requires student to use the research findings from the Assessment 2 and explore a range of strategic alternatives for the chosen organisation, select an option and justify that decision.
2. Second part of this assessment "requires student to present their plan to the class as part of their communication plan".
Your team need to consider matters of strategic leadership and entrepreneurship, the future strategic options of the company, and issues confronting or likely to undermine company's potential. Your team must demonstrate strategic insight, explore strategic development and you will need to reason and justify strategic options the group present as viable. Note that the criteria reflect the importance placed on development of argument and applied critical thought.
Successful groups start by reading and working together to interpret the content of the case stimulus as early as possible.
Part 1. Draft strategic plan
This activity requires your group to write the strategic plan for the chosen organisation
Tasks:
a) Prepare a summary of your background research and analysis that can be included in your strategic plan.
b) Convene a planning session with your planning team to formulate the strategic objectives and strategies that you need for the future.
c) Make sure you assign a priority, a timeframe, responsibilities and measureable performance indicators to each strategic objective.
d) Circulate the plan to all relevant people and ask for comment/feedback, support and endorsement.
Part 2. Communicate Strategic plan
This task requires you to communicate the strategic plan, seeking feedback from stakeholders and refining the plan where necessary. You should also consider the way your will measure effectiveness and review the strategic planning process.
Tasks:
a) Communicate strategic plan to all relevant people in your organisation by undertaking a formal presentation
b) As part of your communication plan, tell your class provide constructive feedback on your plan
c) Make any refinements to the plan, including the performance indicators and together with your planning team discuss how you will evaluate achievement of objectives and how you will evaluate the effectiveness of the plan overall according to the feedback you receive from your peer member and your trainer.
d) Review your strategic planning process and identify methods to improve the strategic planning process.
