ITECH7406- Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing Team assignment – 2016 TEAM ASSIGNMENT CONSISTS OF TEAM REPORT AND TEAM PRESENTATION Weighting: 25% (15% for the report and 10% for the presentation) TEAM REPORT The Business Intelligence literature reports the use and implementation of Business Intelligence and Data warehousing tools and applications in organizations. The primary objective of this research project is to provide a forum for students to investigate the practice, approaches and understanding of business intelligence as it is being applied in the real world to realize organizational objectives. The report should also include the description of a case study of business intelligence as it applies to the topic of discussion. There are several interesting topics to be considered, some of which include: •Best practices in business intelligence •Business intelligence and CRM •Business intelligence in small and medium enterprises •Business intelligence technology utilization in organizations •Business intelligence training issues •Critical success factors in business intelligence adoption and practice •Data warehousing and data mining strategies for business intelligence •Enablers and inhibitors for business intelligence •Examination of the use of analytics in support of business processes and decision-making •Global issues in business intelligence There are two deliverables to this project: Report and Presentation. (1) Report Submission: You will submit a 9-10 pages report (about 3000 words not counting cover page and references) in hard-copy to tutors/lecturers assignment box in week 11. Double-sided printing for the hard-copy is encouraged in order to save paper. Declaration should be done to declare how much (percentage) each member of the team has contributed to the report. (2) Presentation: Before the submission of the report, each team would be expected to deliver a 10-15 minutes presentation in week 10, summarising the content of the report. At least 15 references in your report must be from peer-reviewed sources. A formal report structure should be followed. This should include a cover page, introduction, headings and subheadings, conclusion, and a reference section. You are reminded to read the "Plagiarism" section of the course description. Your essay should be a synthesis of ideas from a variety of sources expressed in your own words. For example, a minimum is set on the wider reading required. A student reading vastly more than this minimum will be better prepared to discuss the issues in depth and consequently their report is likely to be of a higher quality.
