Assignment Objectives 1. Develop skills in using: page layout, image capture and manipulation, anddrawing applications for multimedia. 2. Develop skills in using industry standard applications: Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator. 3. Demonstrate knowledge of typography, colour, image manipulation and basic layout, for a promotional print-based output supported by a simple interactive multimedia presentation. Assignment Task 1. Produce a front cover for a NEW multimedia magazine. 2. Prepare a multimedia presentation that promotes the NEW magazine using PowerPoint. The intended audience: the media, reviewers of your magazine, advertisers /sponsors, and other relevant business professionals Magazine cover Step 1. Produce a front cover for a NEW multimedia magazine - size A4 Portrait a. Produce a mast head for a NEW Multimedia Magazine – use Illustrator The mast head should include all relevant information - Name of magazine – 'INTERACTIVE Multimedia', 'iMedia', 'Mixed Media' 'MM' . (these are just ideas, make up your own name, something relevant to Multimedia) - Information on volume, edition and / or date - Make sure you find examples – look at existing magazines in this genera b. Produce an illustration of a product (use the illustration produced for Assignment 1) - use Illustrator c. Montage illustration onto a background image – use Photoshop d. Background photos either from web site, scanned from an original photographic print or digital camera. e. Enhance photos / images in Adobe Photoshop f. Produce a multimedia presentation promoting this NEW multimedia magazine – use PowerPoint Include • a minimum of eight slides using 'Action Buttons' for simple navigation • an image of the magazine cover (consider the guidelines for good design, typesetting and navigation for on-screen, interactive presentations that you researched for assignment 2) Demonstrate your knowledge of on-screen output, including appropriate use of file formats: • .jpg, .gif, .psd and .ai, files • Resolution suitable for on-screen, • Bitmap and vector images • Colour models Submission Using a plastic sleeve – include 1. Deakin College cover sheet 2. a hard copy colour print of the magazine cover (1 page) 3. the PowerPoint file on disk. 4. Also provide evidence of your mock-up plan for the magazine design and structure for the on screen presentation (hand drawn) and B&W print of any original backgrounds used for the photo montage. The assignment must be submitted to your Multimedia lecturer by the end of class in Week 12. Weighting 20% of your final assessment for this unit.
