PR Toolkit LOGO PROJECT Problem: Your client needs a logo for his/her new business. The logo has to work on all collateral materials. It has to be impressive, unique and must 'sell' the image of the business. Choose the business name from the list below: (or any other word you like) wind, crowd, fight, circus, voila, laugh, rare, cars, hope, music, tree, life, juice, hair, leaf, ring Create a dynamic impressive and compelling logo representative of the "word" you choose. Objective: To demonstrate the effect of typography and kerning on lettering. To explore the use of colour, patterns, and fills using type. Design and create a symbol or mark to make the logo more identifiable. Materials: Using Illustrator on an 8.5" x 11" landscape create three logos with the same word Strategy: 1. Choose a word which you can express using specific typography to evoke an image or brand for this particular business or product. 2. Generate a wide range of variations of font styles and settle on the best font which represents the word. 3. Complete the logo by adding a symbol you design and create that visually expresses your word or image you are trying to emulate. 4. Demonstrate 3 different logos with the same name Reading: Chapter 6. Instructor's Notes: Creating and designing logos isn't an easy task. The concept or idea is the most difficult part of the exercise. First choose a word which excites you. Consider all of the meanings of the word you choose. Settle on the image which will be most understood by the viewer (make sure the meaning is understood by everyone). Be creative and innovative.
