Attention – Opening: Attract the reader's interest by writing something exciting or interesting. This may be 1-4 sentences.  Eg. Problem, Unexpected statement, Reader benefit, Compliment, Related facts, Stimulating question Interest – Body: Describes central points of interest, does not focus on details of the event but on the benefits to the reader  Eg. Facts, figures, Expert opinions, Examples, Specific details, Direct benefits, Indirect benefits Desire – Body: Reduces resistance to the action you are asking for. This part of the message will reassure the reader that the action will be a good thing for rational or emotional reasons.  Eg. Reduce resistance, anticipate objections, offer counterarguments, using what if? scenarios, demonstrate competence, showing the value of your proposal, minimize objections and provide counter-arguments, establish credibility and expertise. Action – Closing: Offers an incentive or gift, gives details about the timeline for response, deadlines, or limits to the offer being made. Contact information, dates, times, and locations are included so the reader can easily reply.  Eg. Describe specific request, make the action easy to take, offer an incentive or gift, do not offer excuses, repeat the main benefits Sincerely, [Type your name] Fundraising and Events Coordinator 2 Oshawa Summer Camps COMM 1209: Communication for Recreation and Leisure Persuasive Letter (5%) Due: November 9, 2016 by 11:59pm. Submit to DC Connect Dropbox. You are the Fundraising and Events Coordinator for Oshawa Summer Camps. Every December, your company holds a fundraiser gala to generate funds for the coming year. This gala is semi-formal and includes a three course meal. The cost per person is $50. There is a limit of 300 guests. Guests must respond by November 25 th , 2015 in order for you to have your number of attendees set before for the event. You are mailing this invitation to everyone who attended the gala last year and continues to donate to Oshawa Summer Camps.
