Assignment title: Information
YOU MUST FOLLOW THIS in all ASSIGNMENTS
Each assignment will have a set of Tasks and Learning Outcomes from these tasks. Our responsibility is to answer Pass, Merit and Distinction criteria in these Tasks. Learning Outcomes dont have to be answered as such, they are just for reference showing us what has to be achieved from these Tasks.
There will be one file containing the Assignment Brief and remaining are support materials which should be thoroughly used as the teachers tend to send back for rework otherwise. If the material are not provided, Login details will be given, please refer to the class material as the teacher will fail if class stuff is not referred to and used.
Use references published after year 2000 until really necessary to use older ones.
Use diagrams, graphs, charts as much as possible.
For PPT - use a good professional design, add TOC, Intro, Conclusion and References slides.
If the requirement wants to talk about a specific company, please always verify if the one you are choosing is what the student wants. It should preferably be a UK based company
REFERENCES at the end in Alphabetic Order !!!!
For Business Assignments, unless required otherwise in BRIEF, you must use UK based companies, or companies that are Operating in UK as well don't need stuff from INDIA or AMERICA.
It`s important that the assignment is easy to read and understand – the reader should be able to easily identify where the relevant answers are, all the assessors wants is to identify where about exactly Student attempted at least for PASS – if assessor cannot identify the answers, student fails to PASS.
You can give outstanding answers even answer for Distinction in some parts, but if one point is missed for PASS – student will receive resubmission and we have to return the whole work back to you.
So if you don't clearly put headings all your work is in vain… of no use and everybody is disappointed …
I strongly suggest doing first the division, titles headings, identifying what you have to answer – check grading criteria, once you have done all this you can write your answer under the Headings.
If you have work from ICON COLLGE – you must answer the section where it says "WHAT YOU MUST DO" – and divide from there!!!
1 - Divide by Assignment Requirements, not by GRADING criteria - PASS_MERIT_DISTINCTION – the grading criteria only tells you what you must do achieve those, but when you divide the assignment you sort of got to mix grading criteria with ASSIGNEMT Requirments.
2-All your answers have to follow the grading criteria.
You have to give your answer making reference to what requirements for PASS, Merit and Distinction are.
3 You cannot put the task title and then write 3 pages,
This is what you must do:
a) Put task title as it is in the Brief.
b) NOW - Check all the points from the TASK tile, break the main title into a few headings and write them BOLD -While you are doing that check what you must cover for PASS-Merit-Distinction by reading Grading criteria – and inspire your heading from there.
Break the Assignment into points where you clearly suggest where about you have answered for PASS- Merit -and distinction
When you are doing SWOT and PEST analysis:
Put these 4 in a table with 4 cells - put you answers in the cells.
Now under the table you must briefly explain the content why you have chosen whatever is there.
Case study:
When you got case study - you must talk only about the case study, do not go about other stuff which is irrelevant.
Apply all your answers to the case study.
Definitions:
Always give definitions in student's words - to the main terms like TOUR OPERATOR, HOSPITALITY – BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT etc…- and put in-text reference.
Always check the Font style, spacing, headings - assignments have to be written as required in the Brief!
Use paragraphs and hit TAB key make nice alignments.
Images, diagrams and statistics are very important, without those the Assignment has 50% chances to FAIL!
PROBLEM Number 1 to all ASSIGNMENTS, this is why they FAIL:
THESE ASSIGNMENTS HAVE TO BE DONE WITH A VERY PERSONAL APROACH, GENERAL TALKING IS NOT ACCEPTED AND HAS A CONSEQUNCE FAIL. ALL has to be applied on company or destination, whatever you are talking about!!!
INTRODUCTION AND CONCLUSION should be 10 lines – to maximum half page and not more than that, unless otherwise required in the BRIEF. (these are not included in word count)
Give arguments pros and cons make it look as the student is giving his opinion as well.
POWERPOINT presentations – should have minimum 10-15 slides – add background
1. First slide – student name and ID
2. Table of content
3. Introduction
4. Next slides will cover the presentation – images-diagrams-statistics
5. Conclusion
6. references
1. Table of content – in its own page
2. Introduction- in its own page
3. Assignment body- each new task in its own new page
4. Task title must be as in the Brief!!!
5. Conclusion- on its own page
6. References- separate page
Don't mix everything, fit all nice, especially tables.
NOW – have you done this?
