Assignment title: Information
The Australian Eagle Systems Replacement Project has so far developed a Business Case, the Background and Objectives sections of a Project Management Plan and you have recently developed a Scope Statement and an initial WBS for the project . Also unbeknown to you the nephew of the Australian Eagle CEO has heard about the project and taken it upon himself to also produce a version of the WBS for the project (they are clearly trying to secure a piece of the project!). However the Australian Eagle CEO is wary of not getting second opinions and of becoming over reliant on individuals as this is part of the problem with the current systems. Consequently Lucy has asked that you look at her nephews' WBS and see if you can turn it into a Gantt chart for her so that Australian Eagle can see how long the project is likely to take to get to the point where the new systems are ready for deployment. Exercise: Create a preliminary Gantt chart using the accompanying WBS produced by Lucy's nephew so that Australian Eagle can get a preliminary view of the project timeline. At this stage you do not need to add further activities to the WBS. Use the accompany roles by activity matrix your company's Senior Systems Analyst has put together to assign the right resources to each activity. Your Senior Systems Analyst (aka your subject matter expert (SME)) has also said that until he has done a more detailed assessment of the system requirements your preliminary Gantt should assume the following: 1. All Agile Requirements activities in the WBS are each 10 days effort
2. All Agile Design activities in the WBS are each 15 days effort
3. All Agile Development activities in the WBS are each 20 days effort
4. All Agile Unit Test activities in the WBS are each 20 days effort
5. All Agile System Test activities in the WBS are each 20 days effort
6. All Waterfall Requirements activities in the WBS are each 10 days effort
7. All Waterfall Design activities in the WBS are each 15 days effort
8. All Waterfall Configuration activities in the WBS are each 50 days effort
9. All Waterfall Unit Test activities in the WBS are each 10 days effort
10. All Waterfall System Test activities in the WBS are each 25 days effort
11. All System Integration Test (SIT) activities in the WBS are each 15 days effort 12. That all the activities are sequential so set the predecessors up accordingly to reflect that You've decided that where the Senior Systems Analyst has not provided any estimate you will use a default of 10 days until you can actually confirm what the realistic estimate is. As you are the Project Manager you have estimated the PM and Controlling activities –and reckon these will take the balance of the PM's time left over after participating in the above activities. Your company's resources manager has said that the earliest you can have resources for the project is 1 April 2015 so set the Project Start Date accordingly.
