The Effects of Poverty Joel Badillo Liberty University   The Effects of Poverty Thesis: Jesus denied that wealth is a sign of God's favor or that poverty is God's punishment for sin. This is shown most clearly in His Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31). Poverty denotes the state of sparseness, insufficiency and meagerness in social, political and economic elements. It is a growing global issue affecting employment rates and livelihood in various countries. The rate of poverty is increasing due to various sustainability issues. It is currently treated by philanthropists, sociologists, environmentalists, entrepreneurs and researchers as a serious issue and reforms are already taken to deal and put an end to this global issue.
