Purpose of this Assignment:
Managing a business event is an activity that many people working in a support role will be involved in. It is a challenging activity which can include organising and co-ordinating resources and arrangements for a variety of events, from arranging meetings, product launches, exhibitions and promotions to organising a full-scale conference. . The tasks of an event organiser include forward planning to organise a suitable venue, arranging attendance and accommodation for delegates, organising equipment and refreshments, producing delegate packs and papers, liaising with others, keeping records and managing a budget. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are therefore essential to undertake this range of activities effectively and efficiently
Scenario:
You have to plan and carry out of a special event. The activity level should entail total responsibility for the event and may be conducted under the auspices of an existing organization or independently. Students should prepare a brief proposal stating the type of event planned, purpose of the event, target audience, facilities/equipment needed, estimated costs and sources of income and time schedule for major tasks and activities. The students have to perform regular reviews including the methods and resources they to carry out a proper research by going through reports of events of similar nature which held in past to understand the proper methods and strategies also to avoid mistakes which can be the reason of event failure.For this purpose the students can review different news papers reports on event coverages and video reports of the events to get familiar with the over all sole purpose of the event. The scenario is comprise of two sections the first one is student's practical section in which you have to carry out rearch about their event by going through reports of previously held events and after that students will organise practical event to cover the learning outcome 1 which will enable stduents to organize an event of specific nature in the stated time period. In the second section students have to present a report of their event to show wether they have covered the necessary criteria for event management and the required strategies to carry out a project.
Task 1 (L.O. 1: 1.1, 1.2, and M1, M2, D1)
Be able to plan or project:
1. You have to carry out a practical event or project for identified purpose and time scale.
2. For your event you have to prepare proper documentation to show that you have covered the necessary legal requirements.
3. The tasks of an event organiser include forward planning to organise a suitable venue, arranging attendance and accommodation for delegates, organising equipment and refreshments, producing delegate packs and papers, liaising with others, keeping records and managing a budget. You have to organise all these resources for your event.
