INTERNETWORKING Assessment 2: Case study Report Weighting of this assessment towards overall Grade is 50%. Please select any one of the topics listed below and prepare a report with ~2500 words. Your report must contain a thorough discussion about the selected topic, clearly document the operations/functionalities of the technology/ies, Present advantages & disadvantages, figures or diagrams, examples, etc. Include also an overall analysis and evaluation of the topic in the report. Your report must contain strong technical content and sound argument. Topic 1: Prepare a network design for a two-storey building with five different departments. Each department belongs to a separate subnet. Implement IPv6 addressing and routing protocols in your design. Topic 2: Implement Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) across all departments of Majan College. Each department belongs to a separate subnet. Topic 3: Implement Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology/ies to interconnect all branches of Badr Al Sama Hospital in Muscat. Topic 4: Design a network that implements client-server technology. Evaluate zero client and thin client technologies. Which of the two technologies will perform better in your network? Topic 5: Compare the following WAN protocols: Frame Relay, HDLC, and PPP. The assignment MUST be submitted online (through MOVE) on or before the due date mentioned in page 3. 3. Your assignment shall reflect the depth and breadth of your original analyses in a clear and coherent manner. 4. Use of the relevant academic literature to support ideas and issues discussed. The range of academic sources such as texts and journals to support your arguments and comments. 5. Any reference to authors and other writers shall be quoted with due acknowledgement in your assignment report using the Harvard Referencing System. For details of Harvard referencing style refer the Undergraduate student hand book 2013-2014, Section VII, sub heading 7.2, page 41. 6. This is an individual assignment and carries a 50 % weighting of the module grade. 7. This assignment follows a case study format and must be original and creative. An analytical piece of work is required. The use of 'cut and paste' approach will be penalized. It must be presented in a structured manner, with appropriate cover page, content page, introduction, body (with appropriate heading / sub-headings), conclusion, references, page numbered and any required appendices. 8. Your report should be word processed and professionally presented. The length of your essay should be around 2500 words, presented in text of font size 12 with 1.5 line spacing. 9. The cover page should be attached with the assignment and uploaded through MOVE (online). All assignments must be adhered strictly to the deadlines specified by Majan College. Failure to hand in the assignment for any reason and without prior approval and a valid written extension from the module tutor will not be marked and will be awarded a grade G (0) irrespective of the quality of the work. See Undergraduate Student Handbook 2013-2014, Section IV, sub heading 4.2, page 16. 11. Unacknowledged use of work of others (plagiarism) is regarded as a dishonest practice and will be will be penalized. See Undergraduate Student Handbook 2013-2014, Section V, sub heading 5.6 & 5.7, page 30 & 31. Additional Guidelines:  The submission link on MOVE will be open for seven days including the last date of submission.  You are entitled to resubmit the report as many times as you want before the deadline. This provision will help students to use turnitin as a learning tool and students are advised to make use of this opportunity by submitting the work in advance and make use of the resubmission facility.  Turnitin displays the similarity index immediately or in minutes later for the first submission whereas for subsequent submissions it will take 24 hours to display the similarity index.  As per MUC regulations, the submission file and similarity index shown after the deadline will be considered as your final submission.  Files should be submitted by 6pm on the day of the deadline. There is a grace period until midnight to allow for any technical difficulties, but any assignments submitted after this will be counted as late. Technical problems will not be accepted as an excuse for submitting after the day of the deadline.  The similarity percentage of your final submission will be one of the factors considered, for assessing the originality of your assignment. However, the decision to report an assignment for plagiarism is taken by the Lecturers, who mark your assignment.  The Lecturers will consider a number of factors such as Assessment type, Part of the assessment where similarity occurs, Nature of similarity etc., along with the similarity percentage of your assignment, to assess the originality of your assignment. Therefore, similarity percentage would not be accepted as a basis for disputing academic judgments regarding plagiarism.  Note that the similarity percentage of your submission can change till the submission deadline, if the submissions of other students have similarity to your assignment.
