Your assignment: Each student will develop and submit a research paper (12-20 full pages in length, double-spaced, using the college specifications for written papers) providing a substantive analysis on the future of one of the following topics, or a technological aspect of one of these topics: Broadband Networks Database Design & Administration Information Systems Security Project Management Software Design & Programming Technology Management Telecom Management Telecom Technology Web (site) Design & Development Your paper is to be about the future of your chosen area. So, for example, you could choose the technology management specialty, and focus on the storage technology systems area. You would be looking at the future of database technology, data centers, cloud computing, and the resource software that makes these things work. You are expected to state your opinion about the future of your chosen topic, and support it with evidence and logical analysis. I encourage you to state the future state by proposing answers rather than just identifying gaps. Your paper should include a full title page, abstract (300 words or less, which is longer than the college standard), introduction, body, conclusions, and reference list. Important: Please note that talking about the future is a bit different than stating a problem and describing a solution for it. The future is uncertain. Please take this uncertainty into consideration while writing your paper and consider exploring "the future" accounting for a couple of different likely scenarios. Target audience: As you are writing your paper, please consider that it will be read by non-technical people as well. So, please explain domain specific terminology, cite sources that support your arguments, and provide references and/or links to those sources. Please consider using tables, graphics and examples to illustrate the concepts (where applicable), in order to make it easier on readers to understand the topic.
