Please refer to your Student Handbook for full details of the programme assessment scheme and general information on preparing and submitting assignments. Learning Outcomes: After completing the module the student should be able to: 1. Critically analyse and appraise the roles played by management consultancy and the different types available at both an operational and strategic level; 2. Critically evaluate the different consultancy needs of a range of organisations; 3. Demonstrate a critical understanding of consultancy costing principles. 4. Structure a debate and demonstrate the skills necessary to communicate and present it. Your assignment should include: a title page containing your student number, the module name, the submission deadline and a word count; the appendices if relevant; and a reference list in Arden University (AU) Harvard format. You should address all the elements of the assignment task listed below. Please note that tutors will use the assessment criteria set out below in assessing your work. Maximum word count: 3000 words Please note that exceeding the word count will result in a reduction in grade proportionate to the number of words used in excess of the permitted limit. Re-sits: If you are re-sitting this assessment for the first time, you may re-work your original submission if you wish. However, if this is your third attempt at this assessment, you must submit a piece of work which is substantially different from your first two attempts.Page 3 of 6 Assignment Task Write and present a proposal to conduct a consulting project on an issue or problem in an organisation of your choice. The proposal should include the following: 1. An analysis of the issues with a clear statement of needs and benefits. 2. A description of how you would approach the problem. 3. A discussion of how much you would charge to complete the project and how long it would take. 4. A section explaining why the company should hire you to perform the work. Note: Higher marks will be gained by proposals that are client-centred and sufficiently persuasive so as to increase the likelihood of getting the project bid accepted. The proposal assignment will consist of two parts: 1. A formal written proposal (3000 words) 2. A PowerPoint presentation for a hypothetical 15 minute oral proposal. nb. The audience for both of these is the client. The report carries 75% of the marks and the Presentation 25% Submission - Important note: This should be inserted into the appendices section of your report as follows: once you have prepared your PPT go to the 'File' menu, click 'Save as Pictures…' this will save each slide as a separate JPEG or TIFF file. These can then be copy and pasted into the report. Please note: this PPT must be pasted into the appendices and not embedded as a separate file. Formative Feedback You have the opportunity to submit a one-page summary of your assignment to receive formative feedback. The feedback is designed to help you develop areas of your work and it helps you develop your skills as an independent learner. Your work must be submitted to the module tutor's email address ([email protected]) two weeks prior to the submission deadline. This is to allow time for you to reflect on the feedback and draft your final submission. Formative feedback will not be given to work submitted after the above date.Page 4 of 6 Guidelines: You MUST underpin your analysis and evaluation of the key issues with appropriate and wide ranging academic research and ensure this is referenced using the AU Harvard system.
