Assignment title: Information
You are expected to produce a report in which you summarise each of the two papers in your own words, critique them, compare and contrast the approach taken and/or the information from them and discuss the relevance and/or importance to agriculture in WA. Remember to list the papers that you are writing about. The summary should be in your own words and be brief and to the point. Do not produce a re-hashing of the paper. You do not need to present the results of the paper again. Simply summarise why they did what they did, what they found and what they concluded (in a few paragraphs). The main parts of the assignment are the 'discussion of content and any deficiencies'. Synthesis & critique: compare and contrast papers; relate to knowledge of cropping systems; analysis of the usefulness of the information from the papers' (see detail of assessment). This involves writing about what was good and bad about the work and the paper, how it relates to current knowledge, how the two papers compare and contrast, how useful the papers are and perhaps where they could go from here with future work. The report may be structured such that you examine each paper in turn and then compare the two, or you can do each sub-section of the report for each paper (summary for each, then critique for each, then how each relates to existing knowledge) before comparing and contrasting the two. The approach that you use will depend on what makes most sense to you. Ensure that you have covered all that is required for the assessment. Also, don't forget an executive summary/abstract, introduction and conclusion. The use of additional references is an important part of this report. You must reference any statements that relate to why a part of a paper or the experiment is good or bad, or does or does not relate to WA agriculture. Additional references will also be important when relating the papers that you are reviewing to previous work done in the area. You are allowed to have opinions (and can even write in the first person if you wish), but you MUST have support or justification for the points that you make or opinions that you have."I think the paper is well written" is not sufficient. Why it is well written, what's good/bad, how does it relate to other papers or to the generally accepted structure of a paper, is far more informative."The information in the paper is useful" is not sufficient; relate it to other work and/or particular cropping systems (with references and/or supporting information) so your reader can see why it is useful.Your report should be written in the standard format of title page, executive summary or abstract, introduction, main body, conclusion(s) and references. In the body of the report you should describe each of the two papers, identify any deficiencies in each of them and compare and contrast the approach taken and/or the information from them. You should also discuss the relevance and/or importance to agriculture in WA and how the papers add to the knowledge and/or practice of crop production. This assignment addresses the following unit learning outcomes (entirely or in part):1.Explain the scientific principles (including reproduction, nutrition, genetics, resource use efficiency) relating to crop and pasture production
