Written Description Guidance Notes: As a guide this piece of work should be at least 8000 words in length. You should describe the structure of: 1. The Central Nervous System 2. Sensory, connector and motor neurones. You should describe how nerve impulses are transmitted You should explain the role of chemical transmitters in enabling impulses to cross synapses. You should compare voluntary and reflex actions. You should explain the role of the autonomic nervous system. You should explain the effects on transmission of nerve impulses from one of the following: • Caffeine • Nicotine • Amphetamines • Cocaine Assessment To achieve a Pass grade the submission must meet all the Assessment Criteria below. If all the Assessment Criteria are met, your submission will be assessed for higher grades against the identified Grade Descriptor components. If all the Assessment Criteria are not met then you will be offered a Resubmission within a short deadline set by your tutor. If your second submission, within the designated short period meets the Assessment Criteria it becomes eligible for assessment for the higher grades.
