Instructions to students (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY) The research question that will guide your project is: Research Question: There is considerable evidence that an organisation's involvement in the community can improve an organisation's public reputation and employer brand appeal. Less is understood about the impact of corporate community involvement on the organisation's own workforce. By exploring the evidence from recent research on this topic, discuss and analyse the relationship between an organisation's involvement in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and employee embeddedness, satisfaction, engagement, and turnover. The research report must be written in a critical or argumentative essay style. This means your research paper must offer a critical analysis of the topic that incorporates various viewpoints about the relevance/importance of the CSR activities and employee engagement and citizenship. For example, from your review of the academic literature, is there agreement that CSR activities are useful for motivating and engaging employees? Do they increase organisational citizenship? Do they have greater impact on different generations in the workforce? What do other sources say? Using at least 12 ACADEMIC SOURCES (academic journal articles and books) research and write a paper that responds to the topic. Presentation: The presentation component includes the preparation of a 20 minute (plus 10 minutes of questions/activities) group presentation. It is entirely up to the group to decide how they want to present their findings. You can do a poster, stand and present, do a role play, make a video, present a case study or any other way you think is a useful way to communicate your findings. Creativity and innovation is encouraged but do not lose sight of the task! Everyone in the group has to contribute to the presentation and everyone has to be present and involved in some way. During your presentation you must involve the rest of the tutorial group. Be creative and engaging with this. Prepare a short activity; ask the group to reflect on their own experience in relation to your findings; ask the group to time you; get them to summarise key learning points from your presentation. If you decide on an activity, you can choose one out of the text book, find something online, or make up your own activity. NOTE: Your group must use at least 12 academic journal articles in the preparation of your research report. You may also find government, consultant and/or practitioner articles and reports useful. Relevant references must be cited and included in your presentation. Make sure you include the references you use on any slides or materials used in the presentation.
