You should ensure that your assignment contains all of the following learning outcomes:
1.1 Analyse processes of encoding, storage and retrieval in relation to human memory with
reference to evidence.
1.2 Evaluate models of human memory with reference to function.
2.1 Analyse explanations of forgetting, for example, decay, displacement, interference
and context dependency, with reference to evidence.
2.2 Compare and contrast these explanations with reference to research evidence.
3.1 Evaluate mnemonic techniques (for example method of loci, pegwords) with reference
to examples or evidence.
This grading guidance will be used alongside the marking guidelines for psychology found
on Moodle
Referral:
Referral grades will be given to any assignment that lacks appropriate citations and
references; is heavily plagiarised or fails to adequately meet the criteria for a pass grade
Pass Grade:
Pass grade material may be list-like with the use of boxes and bullet points some initial
attempt to link or discuss material
Cited evidence will be presented but may not be linked well to other material
Some references and citations may not be present or may be incorrect
There may be an over-reliance on cited material with only initial evidence of understanding
Merit grade:
In order to gain a Merit grade in this assignment you should ensure that you integrate
evaluation points throughout your assignment. These should be linked to ensure further
discussion of points.
There will be evidence from cited sources to support points
Citations and references must be present and correct. There should be a good range of
material used from valid sources
Distinction grade:
There will be everything in the Merit category plus the following:
In order to gain a distinction grade there should be a thorough, detailed analysis of up to
date, relevant material from a wide range of sources.
Sources will be valid. Citations and references will be correct
There will be evidence of wide ranging research (evidenced by an extensive reference list)
There will be evidence of thorough and detailed, well-understood, evaluation points
interlinked with relevant material
There may be evidence of well-structured comparison points
The student will present well balanced evidence
