Business Ethics and Governance – BUS 1403 – Applied Group Project Your group project has 2 parts. For Part A you are required to design a poster about the CSR for a company of your choice. For Part B you are required to submit a professional report introducing the company, stating its ethical status and its ethical responsibility for each of its business functions. You are then required to research and critically review the company's claims. Part A You should design an attractive poster for your chosen company which should include (but not limited to) the following: a) Your details – Your group's names and student numbers and brief introduction about you. b) Your company – Give a brief background on your organization – include type of business, number of employees. c) Definition of CSR – What is CSR? Put this in your own words rather than copy a definition. d) Driving forces of CSR – Why is it important for your organization to have a CSR policy? e) How is your company ethically responsible towards its primary stakeholders, i.e. employees, customers and suppliers? f) How does the company CSR policy support the environment and the community? g) Apply Carroll's CSR pyramid to your organization – i.e. the ethical, legal and financial and philanthropic responsibilities of your organization. Part B Prepare a professional report in your own words which covers the following: Introduction (10% – 200 words) Introduce the company. Give a brief history and outline the mission of the organization. Give some information on the current status of the company. Remember: (DO NOT quote website – this part must be completely in your own words). Also include the aim and scope of the report. Ethical Status (20% - 600 words) Based on the company website, research and critically analyze the company's apparent ethical status and commitment towards business ethics, sustainability, Governments and society as reflected by their website. For example, does the company have a public statement about ethics or related issues on their website? You MUST include part of their website as a screenshot in the appendix. Critical Research (30% - 600 words) Now do some academic research, explore the Internet and HCT library Databases (such as PRO Quest) to find information which contradicts what the company claims on their website. (Look for criticism about their ethical behavior and even possibly public scandals for each of the four areas). Recommendation (20% - 400 words) - What would you recommend this company do in the future to avoid further scandal? Your recommendations must be specific, realistic and based on theories and your academic research. Conclusion (10% - 200 words) what new insights have you gained? Summarize the report without adding new information. References and Appendices (5%) – List any references that also need to cited in the main document using APA format. Place any Screenshots, graphs or additional information in this section – these are separate sections and should be referred to in the main body of the assignment. Report Structure (5%) – Make sure that the report is professionally designed and follows the format below. Report Format 1. HCT formatting regulations apply: Font: Times New Roman, Size: 12, Spacing: 1.5 2. Academic Honesty Statement included 3. A Word document that must include cover page, contents page, page numbers and headers for sections 4. Cover page must include: Course Name & Code, Assessment Number, Title, Student Names & IDs, Instructor Name and Due Date. Poster Format The poster must be submitted as a hardcopy and a soft copy (.pdf file). The hard copy should be A3 or A4 size. Any images or research used in the design of the poster must be referenced in the references section of the report. Submission Date: Both the poster and the report are due by Week 13.
