Submitting your Assignment
1. Assignments should be typed using a 10 or 11 point font (Times Roman or similar if
possible), with double spacing and a 4 cm margin on the right-hand side of the page.
Please set the page size to UK A4. All pages must be numbered.
2. Assignments should be submitted in either Microsoft Office and/or PDF format (.doc,
.docx, .pdf etc.). File names should be kept simple and only contain alphanumeric
characters (a-z0-9), spaces and underscores (e.g. Valid_filename_1.doc). Files with
other characters such as apostrophes, brackets or commas may not be accessible by
markers.
3. Assignments may be uploaded only once; substitutions are not permitted and students
should therefore ensure that the version uploaded is their final submission.

Q.1. What do we mean by Triangulation? Why might triangulation be important in relation to
researching an organization using a single case study approach?
Q.2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using desk-based research? Suggest
what the potential could be for researching the topic of staff development and retention using
desk-based methods. The methods may include literature reviewing, statistical analysis and
documentary analysis. Why might you need to follow this research exercise up with primary
data collection?
Q.3 Compare and contrast the utility of using semi-structured interviews and focus
groups/group interviews.
