Assignment 1 Current Issues in Marketing MBA Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to develop and compare positioning strategies for two UAE based companies in a similar product category. Follow the following guidelines: Pick a category basically dominated by two or a few main brands. Du and Etisalat ( telecommunication company ) Initially, initially conduct a situation analysis one page for each organization Evaluate the positioning of each brand by answering the following questions: What segmentation strategy is followed, and who are their target markets? What are their main points of parity (POP)? Make a detail analysis of the POP. What are their points of differences (POD). Make a detail analysis of the POD. Have they defined their positioning correctly? How might it be improved? Develop a concluding remarks in the conclusion of one paragraph Evaluate the positioning of the two organizations. The assignment is due on 7 FEB Marks allocated 20
