You are required to interview a preceptor or someone you feel displays all of the qualities of an excellent clinical leader. You may choose someone that you feel is a role model or potential mentor within the workplace. The interview questions should be formulated by what you want to know about the topic and from ideas generated by engaging with the literature. You should then review relevant literature, integrating this into your PPIE to present your findings to show a practical and theoretically underpinned understanding of clinical leadership. This may include clinical leadership roles, qualities and key attributes with focus on the relevance to your clinical practice as a transitioning or graduate nurses. 7 You should demonstrate how you have gained important insights into your own clinical leadership qualities, values and beliefs, highlighting how this will have implications for your practice. You will then formulate goals for the further development in the form of a plan. This can be mapped out in the form of an appendix. This assessment piece can be written formally in first person. Assessment criteria 1. Demonstrate the ability to conduct a professional interview with a colleague to access key information 2. The extent to which appropriate scholarly literature is critically analysed and incorporated to support findings within well synthesised writing 3. The extent to which the student recognises the key attributes of good clinical leadership and how this will have implications on their own professional clinical practice goals 4. The extent to which a plan is incorporated of how the student will apply their knowledge, skills and attitudes into their professional clinical practice 5.
