You are about to become the manager of a hospitality organisation and the role will require you to interact regularly with your subordinates from diverse cultures, nationalities, generations and with varied levels of work experience and backgrounds. What common communication barriers do you think you will encounter and how would you overcome them? (A minimum of two communication barriers are to be discussed). Your discussion may use your current or past employers as the basis of your argument. You may also use a hypothetical organisation, but create enough detail based on your experience or observation of real workplaces. You will need to incorporate the general communication theory as discussed in class, as well as supporting your argument with a minimum of three external academic sources. Please present a strong, definite claim or numerous grounds for those claims (observations, etc.…) and warrants that connect the two.
