Review the Nutrient Reference Values for Australia and New Zealand and the Australian Dietary Guidelines with regards to the nutritional requirements of your selected population group. In addition, search for published research on this topic to support your understanding and assist you with writing your essay. 3. Write an essay covering the following points: Define the selected population group and briefly discuss the physiological and nutritional challenges of this life stage (eg. growth, sexual development with adolescence). Select two (2) micronutrients and explain their role for the selected population group With reference to the Australian Dietary guidelines, discuss two (2) potential health issues which can arise if individuals do not meet the nutrient requirements recommended for the selected population group. Support your discussion with reference to reputable resources such as published journal articles and government websites/publications. 4. Essay structure and referencing The assignment must be in an essay format and have an introduction, body and conclusion. Please refer to the Communication Skills Handbook for further guidance on writing an essay. You can use tables within the body of your essay, or as an appendix to list information such as the NRVs. Ensure that you reference the source of the information, and refer correctly to the appendix or table within the body of your essay. Please also see below under 'Word Count' regarding content of tables and appendices. You are expected to refer to material other than the lecture slides and the set text to find sufficient material to write the essay. The majority of the essay should be in your own words. Ensure you paraphrase published material you are using and acknowledge the source of information. Reputable references include recently published (within the last 5 – 10 years) peer reviewed journal articles, academic texts and government resources. Include a title page showing the subject code and name, your name and student number, assignment type and title, due date and word count. Please ensure you adhere to the word count of 1000 words +/- 10% (see note below). The assignment should be presented in a conservative font, such as Times New Roman or Arial of at least 12 point and double spaced. Your writing is to be fully and correctly referenced as per the Endeavour Referencing Guide. Use of the Mendeley citation software is highly recommended to assist you with in-text referencing and generating your reference list.
