An investigation into online identity – how feasible is it to eradicate your online identity and what are the implications for investigators Project Brief Description: The issues of privacy and online identity is a vexed one in respect of the competing priorities of maintaining privacy and ensuring identity veracity in online commercial transactions. Over and above that the extent to which one can remain anonymous in an interconnected world is a hypothesis that requires and research testing in order that it might be tested. This research will seek to establish an identity as it were a living person (subject to appropriate Human Rights Article 8 considerations) across digital social media apps and seek to establish a persona. The testing as to the extent to which once established an online identify can be eradicated will then be tested. Investigate the concept of virtual identity and its implications. 2. Identify the privacy, Data Protection Act and Human Rights Act issues attendant. Identify ethical issues. 3. Establish the parameters of online identity and the forms that it takes. 4. Establish a "safe" identity with no reference to persons living or dead. 5. Eradicate traces of that identity and establish the veracity of the original premise.
