AProject Details 1 What is the purpose of the project? The purpose of the project is to test how feasible it is to eradicate your online identity and what are the implications it poses for investigators. 2 What are the planned or desired outcomes? – -Investigate the concept of virtual identity and its implications. -Identify the privacy, Data Protection Act and Human Rights Act issues attendant. Identify ethical issues. -Establish the parameters of online identity and the forms that it takes. -Establish a "safe" identity with no reference to persons living or dead. -Eradicate traces of that identity and establish the veracity of the original premise 3 Explain your research design My design will follow the experimental approach. I will create an identity using avatars in a virtual environment, create an activity between them, delete these identities(avatars) and look for artifacts through the use of open source tools to test the browsers on which these identities were created, with a view to looking for left artifacts. I will be using a virtual environment to run my test so as to avoid interaction with the real environment. A windows 7 OS will also be installed on the VM. I will also be using four browsers for my testing namely: internet explorer, firefox, google chrome and safari all installed on the virtual machine.
