Assignment 3
Investment in Social Media Analytics at DBS Bank
Due date: 05/02/2017 at 11:59pm
Weight: 30%
Word limit: 2500 words maximum (Table of contents & references not included in the
word count; text beyond 2500 words will not be considered for assessment)
Individual/Group: Individual assignment
Purpose
To demonstrate how an investment in social media analytics could generate business value and
improve a business’ overall competitiveness. Thisreport offers you the opportunity to apply concepts
and theories from the unit that have not yet been applied in the previous two assignments.
Case Study
Refer to the same case study used in assignment 1 (Rewiring the Enterprise for Digital Innovation: The
Case of DBS Bank). It is recommended that you re-read the case study.
Your Assignment:
You are to develop an academic report in which you make a series of arguments encouraging or
discouraging an investment in social media analytics. In doing so, you are to apply the relevant
concepts and theories covered throughout the unit. You must be specific as to which social media
platforms are under consideration; the nature of engagement and the purpose of engagement. You
should provide an analysis of the social media investment that fits DBS Bank’s strategic objectives.
It is not recommended that you focus on describing theories; it is rather necessary to demonstrate
that you can form a clear line of arguments as to why DBS Bank should or should not invest in social
media analytics to improve their business competitiveness. You may choose to apply a combination
of theories and concepts that best support your arguments.
NOTE: You have already used IT Portfolio theory in Assignment 1 and developed a business case in
Assignment 2. In this assignment, we would like you to focus on utilising other theories and
concepts covered in the unit which are yet to be used. (You may use IT Portfolio Theory in
combination with others if you wish but not exclusively.)
