Describe components of personal finance and evaluate the financial health of a person.You work for a company that is considering a 20-year project with annual cash inflows of

$7.7 mil. The project involves committing funds to Vietnam. The initial investment required is

$70 million. The company’s cost of capital is 10%.

Required:

 Write short notes about the political-economic situation in Vietnam. Use recent

information and date.

 Show whether the project is acceptable by computing the Net Present Value of the

project.

 Show whether the project is acceptable using the internal rate of return (IRR)

method.

 Assuming the annual cash inflows of $7.7 mil is sustainable as long as necessary,

estimate how many years it will take for the project IRR to meet the company’s cost

of capital.

 Discuss the pros and cons of using the payback period, NPV and IRR techniques.

 Calculate how much additional cash inflow will be required to make this project

acceptable. Assume the cost of capital, initial investment and project time period

remains constant.

(Hint: make sure you describe the capital budgeting techniques)

Case 2

Discuss the origins of one of the commercial banks in Singapore. Describe the key

products/services offered by the bank. Discuss the financial performance of the selected

bank over the last five years.

2. The length of the assignment report should be around 3,000 words. It should be

typewritten on A-4 size paper with 1.5 line spacing, 12-point font (Times New Roman

preferred) and margins of 2 cm around. All pages must be numbered and properly

stapled/secured.

4. Each report shall include the Coursework Grading Form as the cover page stating

clearly the module title, group member names and their roles and date of submission.

5. Readings: Students are expected to read ahead of the session plan the required

textbook relevant chapters to write their report.

6. Students are to submit their individual project on the session as informed by the

lecturer. Any late submission will be awarded zero mark.
