Learning Outcomes This assignment has been devised to allow students to demonstrate progress towards achieving the following Unit Learning Outcomes and Deakin Graduate Learning Outcomes: At the completion of this Unit, you will be able to: ULO 1 Describe and discuss the theoretical frameworks and concepts which have been developed to explain entrepreneurial behavior in engineering context. ULO 4 Analyse the roles of engineers in creating productive, economic, successful venture in a variety of engineering projects. ULO 5 Demonstrate evidence of enhanced personal knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the management of engineering entrepreneurship This assignment will also help students demonstrate learning achievements towards many other unit learning outcomes. Students are encouraged to review all other learning outcomes to discover additional learning opportunities which will increase the quality of their submission and final results. 3.0 Weighting The assessment task represents 30% of the Unit’s grade. 4.0 Task Requirement All of the world famous entrepreneurs are unique in that they believed in themselves mostly since their childhood and worked towards that goal to success and recognition. They have demonstrated certain common characteristics and traits in their successful lives. Among them, you have to choose the one entrepreneurs/business leaders of your choice fulfilling the following criteria 1. The entrepreneur should have an engineering or technology background. 2. The entrepreneur should currently be active in his/her enterprise/business. Your task is to research and discuss the main characteristics of the successful entrepreneurs. Discuss the life and work of the entrepreneur of your choice and how she/he demonstrated the entrepreneur’s characteristics/traits in her/his successful business. Submit a comprehensive research paper which can include a critical research reviews from variety of resources. You must use at least four different types of resources such as books, scholarly articles, reports and internet etc.School of Engineering SEB725: Engineering Entrepreneurship 3 Your contribution must be sensible, highly focused, feasible and precisely described and should include:  An analysis of the characteristic of entrepreneurs.  A justification of the research literature chosen.  What is so inspiring about this entrepreneur and what did you learn from his/her work. 5.0 Submission Requirements Students have to upload their Assignment Submission on Cloud Deakin under the Assignment 1 Dropbox link by Friday 25 November 2016, 5pm (Melbourne Time).  Report - Each student must submit a good quality research paper of the above task of the length 2500 words (±10%).  File: Your file should be ONE .pdf file. This assignment is to be undertaken individually by students. • A written research paper is to be prepared using an appropriate style and to include a list of references. Refer to Deakin’s Guide to Assignment Writing and Referencing, available online from Student Life, for assistance on appropriate report styles and referencing. • Read the Assessment Criteria guidelines in the Unit Guide for guidance on how this assignment will be marked. • The word limit is 2500 words (+/- 10%) – not including the References section. O Word count includes the first word of the first section heading to the last word of the last section in your report (but it does not including the References section). • The submitted research paper file format must be PDF only. • Don’t waste time with fancy layouts, colours, cover pages, and so on. A simple text-based format is all that is needed with the report layout consisting of a few sections of text (with section headings). Use photos or diagrams sparingly and only if necessary and/or relevant to include in your report. Just use a basic and common text font such as Arial or Times New Roman with at least 10 point font size for body text. Single-spaced paragraphs are acceptable. • There must be a Reference Section (Bibliography) in your submission. Marks will be deducted if it is omitted, not suitably formatted, or lacking more than at least six relevant citations. Use a suitable and consistent referencing style such as the Harvard or IEEE or similar. • Don’t be tempted to plagiarise. If you unsure what constitutes plagiarism, cheating, or collusion then refer to the Academic Honesty information provided for all units on CloudDeakin in the Unit Guide and Information folder. • Online and in-person resources and materials are available from Student Life for all students to assist with assignment writing and referencing skills. Student Life also provides online and in-person resources to assist with understanding plagiarism and how to avoid producing it in your academic work.
