Assignment title: Management
Assessments
There are two assessments. You will be advised of hand-in dates.
Assessment 1: Entrepreneurial self-analysis
Weighting: 25%
Guideline length: maximum 2000 words
Mode of activity: Individual
This is a reflective self-analysis. Its aim is to get you to use the academic skills learned at Business School 1 to help you assess whether you have the character traits and other characteristics of an entrepreneur and to reflect on the implications of this.
1 Complete the GET test on: http://www.Get2Test.net/. Explain the meaning of the results (see chapter 2). A copy of your test results must be submitted with your report.
2 Provide evidence that supports (or contradicts) these results. For example:
a. Other psychometric tests such as the 'AULIVE' creativity test on: www.TestMyCreativity.com. Please acknowledge the use of any test results that have been submitted on other MBA assessments.
b. Examples of your actions and behaviours over your life and business career.
3 Give a brief account of the antecedent influences on your character traits such as education, family background, work experience etc., linking specific influences with specific traits wherever possible
4 Reflect on and provide conclusions about your character traits and the implications for your career aspirations.
Marks for this assessment will be awarded in accordance with the grading grid.

Assessment 2: Preparation of Business Plan
Weighting: 75%
Guideline length: maximum 5000 words
Mode of activity: Individual
You are required to write a business plan either for a business idea you have. This can be a real or an imaginary business or a plan for an existing small business. Whilst you do not have to follow any precise format, a specimen format is provided in the textbook. The interactive chapter exercises on the textbook website allow you to build your plan step-by-step and place it in this format.
Specimen plans are readily available on the internet. However be warned, do not copy the contents of on-line plans. Turnitin will reveal this and it is an academic offence which will automatically cause you to fail the assessment.
Marks will be awarded for the thoroughness of the plan, not for the profit-making potential of the business idea. A good plan that proves the idea to be unviable can receive full marks. A profit projection, breakeven calculation, monthly cash flow forecast and balance sheet are required only for the first year. You must provide details of the assumptions on which these are based.
Marks for this assessment will be awarded in accordance with the grading grid.
