MSc LOM. BST135 Operations Management Project Portfolio The assignment is to be structured in three stages. • Stage 1. Apply the activity sampling procedure to document and understand the current operational performance of one of these scenarios. • The Aberconway Snack Bar • The Julian Hodge Restaurant • The Coffee shop in the Postgraduate Teaching Centre These situations have been chosen for ease of access and for your safety. No other setting is permitted. • Stage 2. The second stage focuses on Operations Strategy. Based on your findings in stage 1, evaluate the existing operations and develop an operations management based strategy to improve the situation. • Stage 3. For the third stage, map out your proposed improvement plan using appropriate project management techniques with diagram. The word limit for this assignment is 3000 words in total. This includes the bibliography, any appendices that you decide to include and any tables and figures. How you split to word count between each stage of the project is left to your discretion. However, grades will be awarded for each stage equally. This assignment will be testing your ability to: apply OM techniques to practical scenarios, deal with incomplete data, and formulate an appropriate OM strategy in a given context, and to present your arguments in a professional manner. You are advised to use computer software (of your choice) to complete your analysis, but the final document must be submitted as a single PDF document of your entire project portfolio. This is required and will be used to check for plagiarism and unfair practice.
