ECA – January Semester 2017
Please read this information before you start working on your ECA.
This ECA carries 40% of the course marks and is a compulsory component. It is to be done
individually and not collaboratively with other students.
Submission
Submit the End-of-Course Assignment (ECA) in the same manner as your Tutor-Marked
Assignment (TMA), i.e. using Canvas. Submission in any other manner such as hardcopy or
any other means will not be accepted. You do not need to submit any forms or cover sheets (e.g.,
form ET3) with your ECA. Note that the computer system will accept your most recent
submission as the final, up till the deadline.
Electronic transmission is not immediate. It is possible that the network traffic may be
particularly heavy on the cut-off date and connections to the system cannot be guaranteed.
Hence, you are advised to submit your work no later than the day before the cut-off date in order
to make sure that the submission is accepted and in good time.
Once you have submitted your ECA, the status is displayed on the computer screen. You will
receive a digital acknowledgement message. The digital time-stamp - not the acknowledgement
message - that indicates that you have submitted your ECA successfully by the due date and
time (i.e. noon). ECA submission must be time-stamped BEFORE noon to be considered a
successful submission. To ensure a timely submission and to have your ECAs marked, you
should therefore not jeopardise your course result by submitting your ECA at the last minute.
There will be no extension to the submission date of the ECA assignment. Do ensure that you
have the correct file(s), accurately named, for submission. Any submission, extra files, missing
appendices or corrections received after the cut-off date/time will not be considered in the
grading of your ECA. You are thus also reminded to keep a copy of the submission receipt as
evidence.
Plagiarism and Collusion
Plagiarism and collusion are forms of cheating and not acceptable in any form of a student’s
work, including this ECA. You can avoid plagiarism by giving appropriate references when you
use other people’s ideas, words or pictures (including diagrams and images). Refer to the APA
Manual if you need help with quoting and referencing. You can avoid collusion by ensuring that
your submission is based on your own individual effort.
The electronic submission of your ECA assignment will be screened by plagiarism detecting
software. For more information about plagiarism and cheating, you should refer to the Student
Handbook (Section 5.2). UniSIM takes a tough stance against plagiarism or collusion. Serious
cases will normally result in the student being referred to UniSIM’s Student Disciplinary Group.
For other cases, significant marking penalties or expulsion from the course will be imposed.CCO203 Copyright © 2017 SIM University Page 3 of 4

implementation of technology to benefit mankind, and the eventual impact of technology
on environment on society.
Submission
• You should avoid using a public WiFi connection for submitting large files. You should
also keep a copy of the submission receipt bearing the date and time-stamp of
submission, for verification purposes.
• Ensure that your Microsoft Word document is NOT in the file format “.docx” as this is
generated by Microsoft Word 2007 or a higher version and it is NOT readable by earlier
versions of Microsoft Word. If you are using Microsoft Word 2007 or a higher version,
ensure that you save your Report in “.doc” format so that your marker can read your
